Love is in the Air

How do you spell love?” ~ Piglet

You don’t spell love, you feel it!” ~ Winnie the Pooh

When I was a little girl, I believed that Spring time was when love was in the air. I have Disney to thank for that, as I sat joyfully watching the birds chase and court each other through freshly bloomed flowers in the classic animated movie Bambi.

Seeing love explode onto the screen resonated with me. It reached into my little heart and has held onto it for the entirety of my life; growing with it a belief in the power of authentic love, as well as how important it is to give love away!

If you are near and dear to me, I rarely let an opportunity go by without telling you how much I love you, how incredible I think you are, and how much I appreciate you in my life. I’m not sure I would still be here if I couldn’t shower my favorite people with all the love in my heart, it feels as though loving people is the only way I can breathe sometimes. It fulfills my purpose in life, and if it’s possible – I feel whole when I am giving parts of my heart away!

With spring right around the corner, this relationship coach is absolutely buzzing with electrified energy! I am alive with excitement, hope and belief that those who need love will find it, and those who have love will share it – putting so much love in the air!

It’s not necessarily Eros, a Romantic love. It could very well be Philia, better known as Affectionate love, or Storge, the Familiar love, or Ludus, a Playful love. Maybe we have Pragma, the Enduring love, or Agape, the Universal love.

But the most important of all the various kinds of love is Philautia, the Self love. This is the love that helps you choose you. This love propels you out of negative, possibly abusive relationships. This love helps you set healthy boundaries in place of being taken advantage of. This love helps you realign when life becomes unbalanced. This love has you choosing what is best for your mental well-being, emotional health, and the betterment of your future relationships! Self love is the first love we sacrifice, but the one love we need most.

What would happen if we choose ourselves first? Close out all the noise and the guilt that comes with a perception of “selfishness”? What if we stepped into self love and healed some real broken parts of ourselves?

When we embrace self-love, it opens us up to GIVE love away; whether that be Eros (romantic love) or pragma (the enduring love), the point is giving love away can actually fill us up.

Who do you want to say “I love you” to? Be it family, friends or a new loved one? Who do you want to give your love to? What is holding you back from saying so? Is it a fear of rejection? Is it a fear of abandonment? What might happen if you leaned into the uncomfortable? If you laid down your pride and fears and stepped into hope and desire. A desire for connection, familiarity, safety and passion.

I can tell you. That love, the one that Winnie the Pooh described, that love that can’t be spelled, will be felt. Felt in its entirety…and suddenly, we have found the love we have been looking for!

If you are looking to lean into the uncomfortable, reach out to me!
